Julie Grace Robinson is a primarily a Woodwind Instructor based in Musselburgh although she is able to teach beginners/intermediate (of all ages) on the piano and keyboard too. She is passionate about music and education and has a wide range of experience.
She graduated with a BMus(Hons) from Edinburgh Napier University in 2013 and initially began building her own private pupil base and also as a woodwind and piano tutor with Lamp House in Haddington. She has thoroughly enjoyed working with pupils of all ages and abilities to build their confidence in their musical abilities and in themselves in general.
Julie has a natural ability to get alongside pupils and teach them at the pace and standard they are comfortable with, whilst always striving to challenge them to do their best. She has presented pupils for ABRSM graded exams and has tutored and mentored pupils through theory exams, National and Higher Exams and University applications.
Julie has previously been the Musical Director for Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association and enjoyed arranging all the music for the singers and the band. She works hard to bring out the best in everyone and was enthusiastic from beginning to end. She also has played in bands/orchestras and ensembles throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. She is currently also working on a venture with a fellow Napier graduate to bring a brand new musical, written by Steven Sneddon to the stage, as its producer. She and Steven are co-founders of the company Magpie Theatre Productions.
In May 2018 Julie also launched a brand new Community Orchestra and coached some 25+ nervous players to perform in a concert in the Brunton in July! The Orchestra is made up mainly adults but more recently, have invited young people along to play and they rehearse in a friendly, comfortable way which produces good sounds through enjoyed experiences. Tutti Orchestra is delighted to have received support and funding from both Musselburgh Common Good Fund and the Area Partnership.
Julie launched Grace Notes in North High Street in Musselburgh in March 2016 and has since expanded into a second premises in Fishers Wynd and has moved the admin base just a few yards along the street to link in with the studio to 139 North High Street. From small beginnings, around 150 pupils come through Grace Notes’ doors each week!
